Getting around — 버스, 지하철, 택시, 타다, 내리다
Here are three ways to travel and the two verbs that go with them. 타다 and 내리다 take different particles (small words added after a noun). Learn the two verbs together.
bus · a large road vehicle that many people ride together.
저는 버스로 학교에 가요. I go to school by bus. | -로 = by, as a means | For getting on, use 을/를. For the way you travel, use 로/으로
subway, metro · trains that run underground.
지하철이 버스보다 빨라요. The subway is faster than the bus. | -보다 = than | 빨라요 comes from 빠르다 (to be fast)
taxi · a car that takes you from door to door. You pay a fare.
늦어서 택시를 탔어요. I was running late, so I took a taxi. | 늦다 = to be late
to get on, to ride · to get into a vehicle, or to ride it.
여기서 몇 번 버스를 타요? Which bus do I take from here? | 몇 번 = what number
to get off · to leave a bus, train, or other vehicle. The opposite is 타다.
다음 역에서 내리세요. Get off at the next stop. | 다음 = next · 역 = station | People often say this when they give you directions
